DC Current Induced Thermal Cycling (TN 650 2.6.26) is referred to, in
the industry, as Interconnect Stress Test (IST). As a point of
disclosure, I believe it is well known and I do not believe I violate
any IPC policy to say on TechNet that PWB Inc. provides IST test
equipment and test services.

The CITC testing used by Endicott Interconnect Technologies (EIT) is
supporting, to the best of my knowledge, EIT's customer base. Since EIT
is a PWB fabricator, other fabricators, may be reluctant to have coupons
tested by EIT.

I have to point out that IST was developed, accepted by IPC as a method,
and brought to market mainly by the tenacity of Bill Birch and his
advocacy of the IST method. Rama Munikoti, Pulak Dhar, Bill and others
worked on early "Power Cycling" for reliability testing which is a
rudimentary fore runner to today's IST method. Since 1990 Bill Birch has
been the principle driver and developer of the IST method.

Paul Reid

yes, EIT still runs it as "CITC". Current Induced Temp Cycling.
