I would be carefull with compliant pin press fit connectors on ENIG boards for high reliability applications in harsh environments. Most pin suplliers specify the Ni layer thickness to be < 5 µm and from my point of view this is an absolute must. Nickel is very hard and brittle, the compound (cu-ni-au) shouldn't have too much of this attitude, that's why the nickel layer thickness is really an issue especially when you have to live with high volume PCB suppliers from the far east and even with a nickel layer below 5 µm I have seen lower retention forces and higher contact resistances after certain environmental stress tests (like suggested in Bellcore or IEC 60352-5) compared to HASL, Immersion Tin or even Immersion Silver.

Pressfit works fine with a variety of surface finishes. Do it with
ENIG. Do it with OSP. Do it with Solder Coated. Do it with Immersion
Silver. Just make sure you do the important stuff right.

That is:
    * Drill size: use the precise drill size specified by connector Mfg
    * Cu thickness: have at least the minimum specified annular copper
    * Min hole size: don't let the hole get too small (overplated) or
you're choke your press or "Z-in" your pins to the board surface
    * Verify if you're serious about it: retention force and hole
wall deformation and min remaining hole wall copper (the old
Bellcore std is really the benchmark for this testing)
