Better than getting the lawyers involved, we might even start a war.

My understanding is the Air Force likes and uses ANSI/ESD S20.20 while the
Navy likes and uses Mil-STD-1686C.

Quick enough for government work? Mil-STD 1686C includes in paragraph 6.1
Intended Use "For those contracts incorporating MIL-STD-1686B of 31 December
1992 the companion document was MIL-HDBK-263B of 31 July 1994. There is no
military handbook yet for this version of MIL-STD-1686C."

Mil-STD 1686C is a 1995 document. Mil-HDBK-263B is a 1994 document. I
don't think there yet is a Mil-HDBK-263C.

Not to keep the discussion going but this is a good subject. Not being
a lawyer but if the DoD adopted the IPC-J-STD 001D does that not imply
the 002 through 006 are adopted? J-Std-001D references ANSI/ESD 20.20
again does that not imply DoD adopted it as well.
Like I said I am not a lawyer. Thanks for listening. Jon

Yes, but a contracting officer could make Mil-STD-1686C a requirement of
a
purchase order.

The ESD Association was contacted by the Department of Defense to create
a
commercial standard. ANSI/ESD S20.20 standard was intended to replace
MIL-STD 1686. The United States Department of Defense has adopted
ANSI/ESD
S20.20.

What's "adopted" mean? You got me. But apparently Mil-STD-1686C has
not
been retired.

Regardless, there are not too many conflicts; none that come to my mind
right now. I'll do a little research and see if I can find any
conflicts.

Hello Technet.

Does ANSI/ESD-S-20.20 replace MIL-STD-1686C?
