Subject: [TN] NTC Friday Element Quiz - The Question
Hi folks! Here is the Friday Element Quiz. There won't be a quiz next
week
due to the IPC Midwest Conference in Chicago.
The Question:
This element occurs as a native metal in the Earth's crust. The annual
production of this element is small - the total quantity of this element
produced in 2000 would fit into a cube just 5 meters on a side. The
largest single chunk of this element was 90 kg found in Australia in
1872.
This element is the most ductile metal as 1 kg of it can be rolled into
a
sheet only 10 nm thick with an area of 5000 square meters (i.e. the size
of a football field).
Bonus points: The origin of the word "crass" is related to this element.
Name the person associated with the element/word origin.
The winner of this week's quiz will have Clumpy assist them for a week.
So far Clumpy has:
Week 1 Lamar Young, SCS Coatings
- accomplished nothing (drank lots of coffee)
Week 2 Bev Christian, RIM
- conducted REACH material testing
Week 3 Drew Meyer, Benchmark Electronics Inc.
- Solderability testing and mowing the lawn
Week 4 Ian Fox, Goodrich
- had an epic journey of travel
Week 4 Gary Ferrari, Garrick Global
- ???? Gary owes us a description
Week 5 Fredrick Miller, Astrolab
- ???? Fredrick owes us a description
Week 6 David Nelson, Raytheon
- ???? David owes us a description
Good Luck
