As a Canadian, even though I've never answered one of these questions
correctly, I will take that as a compliment.

I am just curious - how many of you now have a wikipedia source or some
other reference on elements open first thing Friday morning?

Does not count Bev. Everyone knows Canadians are walking
encyclopedias......

[TN] NTC Friday Element Quiz - The Answer

Hi folks - here is the Friday Element Quiz -

The Question:

The element is a naturally occurring in the Earth crust at a 1 ppt
abundance. The element was not discovered until 1927 due to the
difficulty

of extracting it from mineral sources. In the mid 1950's a UK program
produced 127 grams of pure element that has been used, recycled and
reused

repeatedly during the past several decades due to its 32,760 year half
life. No commercial uses of this element exist. The melting temperature

of this element is 1572C. What element am I?

The Answer:

The element is Protactinium - Pa. The UK Atomic Energy Agency processed
60

tons of U bearing materials to produce the 127 grams of pure Pa. And Bev

is correct, I'll start making the Quiz a bit more challenging as our
TechNet folks are very good at sleuthing!

The winner of this week's quiz is Drew Meyer! Bev, please email Clumpy,
the 8th dwarf, to Drew for his next task assignment.

So far Clumpy has:
1st week - accomplished nothing
2nd week - conducted REACH material testing

Everyone have a great weekend.
