One of those pictures would have been great for Ing's weekly picture
contest!

Hi Rex!

Man! That's pretty bad! If it was a coated impeller, that's the drawback
that I have heard about coatings. I have heard that melonite coatings are
really susceptible to scratching, and once that happens the coating is
worthless. Titanium is much, much better.

Back before it was realized that tin erodes wave solder components, I once
heard about a bad incident with a company that did downhole electronics
using Sn96Ag4 solder. They had been hand soldering everything for years and
then decided to get a wave solder when their volumes increased. They had
their machine for about a year and a half. They came into work one morning
after a long 3-day weekend (they had the machine on a timer so it would be
ready when they came into work), only to find the entire contents of the pot
on the floor. The solder had eaten a hole in the pot!
