Thanks Richard, Yep, you can bet that's something that is going to be paid attention to very closely!

Can I ask what press you used to install these connectors?

Steve

I have used them in both avionics and telecomm applications. Be sure the hole design and finished hole meet the recommended spec, or you will get extruded copper when the connector is pressed in.

Hi again all,

What has prompted me to ask about press-fit presses, is this Amphenol
connector (PN# U86-D4427-10121) :

http://www.amphenolcanada.com/ProductSearch/drawings/AC/U86DX427X0XX1.pdf

I have the insertion specifications here:

http://stevezeva.homestead.com/SFP_2xN_INSERTION.PDF

The instructions call out that it will take 8400 newtons of force to press
this connector in. This is the first time that I have ever run across a
connector like this, and was wondering if any of you have ever dealt with
this puppy before?

Steve
