David,

Stephanie is correct, but your question is also very good.

Your cleaning material should not become a component of what you ship to
your customer, and therefore should in no way be a reportable item to your
customer.

However, as your operation is a consumer of (cleaning) materials residing
inside the EU, you need to know the answer for your own benefit and
reporting requirements. Your supplier should know the answer immediately,
and it is rather unlikely that any modern cleaning material from the "usual
suspects" would have ingredients that would be on any of the lists of
concerns.

If we can be of further help, just make contact off the listserv.

Subject: Re: [CN] REACH - Cleaning Question

David,

I'm assuming you're referring to the REACH substances of very high concern
(SVHC) list when you say REACH list. If an SVHC is in your final product
(article) above the 0.1% weight by weight threshold then you must notify the
European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and anyone who asks for information within
45 days. Hope this answers your question.

Stephanie

Subject: [CN] REACH - Cleaning Question

I am trying to find out if we use a chemical that is on the REACH list for
cleaning purposes, would they be exempt or do we need to report them. When
we clean the part that cleaning chemical does not end up in the finished
product that goes out the door.

Respectfully,
