There might be some confusion on the stucco form depending on ones 
location.  

Here in the states such work was done on ceilings into the very early 1900's.  
Not sure if it was applied much after that.  The decorative parts were formed 
up with plaster, sometimes with burlap added for reinforcement on long pieces, 
then taken to the building site and installed.  The only applications now are 
restorations of old buildings where the owners want to go back to the original 
ceiling.  At a minimum you have to have one of each part available to make 
the molds or shaping tools.

In general we use the term stucco for a mortar/cement like mixture spread 
over metal mesh on the exterior of a building.

Sounds like your ceilings are a feast for the eyes.  As a rule ours are quite 
plain now.
