Thank you Werner, but this place runs on such a tight budget that purchasing
the white paper, as much as I want it right now, is out of the question. My
company will purchase necessary IPC specs that I recommend because they
have to, with all the FAA/AS9100 etc. auditing. I need to bring the fab docs
up to snuff in a hurry while obtaining the correct standards docs that must
be on premises (available for audit).
At the moment I am trying to talk to the fab house to find out exactly what
we have been getting as our docs and their cert of compliance don't have
much detail.

Hi Ken,
You sure have quite a mish-mush.
There is no such thing as IPC-SM-750.
IS410 is an Isola lead-free capable base material as is 370 HR [originally
from Polyclad]
Tg and Td are material properties important for being lead-free capable/
IPC 4101 is an IPC document in its C revision, /129, /24 and /26 are base
material categories.
IPC-A-600 is an assembly spec.
If your drawing has nothing but it on it, your PCB is inadequately
specified.
In order to understand all of this and how it hangs together, you may want
to get my White Paper [see my website].

Subject: [TN] MIL-S-13949/EPS0606/IPC-1710 etc
Good day helpful gurus,
I am the lone PCB layout person working at a new company with
outdated/obsolete (MIL0S-13949 for example) fab drawing notes. Our PCB fab
vendor's cert of compliance states that out boards are built per:
SM-750/IS410/370HR Tg180 C Td 350 (IPC 4101/129, IPC 4101/24.26, IPC 4552
for immersion gold.
The only IPC reference/spec on our drawings is A-600.
Please recommend which IPC standards to purchase that refer to/specify
standards for class III aerospace type PCBs, and if anyone can fill me in on
EPS0606, I'm not getting very far with the web search.
Thanks,
Ken Barton
