Wooden clock?

Well done ,  Graham. Trumpets and Horns. Taramtamtam! Applause! What did you
take it on?

This is in fact a rather famous watch, all in wood. The background is this.

A mill owner visited Junghans. The director took his visitor on a loong ride
through the factory.  At the end of the round, the director asked his guest
about his opinion.  The mill owner yawned and said:
"Well, clocks have been made for centuries, so your clocks are not so
unique.  Make a clock of wood, 100 % wood, then I will be impressed"
Director:
"OK, give me a week, you'll see, we can do anything"

The mill man did no believe much in the promise, but next week when he came
to his office, a entirely wooden clock was ticking on his wall-

The arm that you see on the photo is swinging 90 degrees in both directions.
You can place weights on it to regulate the time. My clock is a cheap copy.
It was damaged when I bought it, so the vertical shaft is a steel pin. The
real clock has a shaft made of hard and lathed wood. The 'bearings' consist
of a special fat wood, so you need no grease. The clocks all wheels are
driven by two stones hanging in ropes. Even they are made of wood fibers.

Congratulations, man with a great CPU. Must admit, myself, I had never fixed
it!
