My past life used masking tape to. cover a corner on witness sample (flat and known well behaved surface) and lift the tape and measure using contact probe for process development. (Ignor the edge build up, just subtract the flat 2 sections of the sample with and without coating provided with very good thickness measurement. (You can confirm with x section, if you like).

Why wouldn't the micrometer be reliable? That is our method, and we are pretty picky about our coating.
As long as the operator takes the measurement at the same location on the CCA (before and after coating), why would it be unreliable?

What is the proper method for measuring conformal coating thickness? Were're using a micrometer but I doubt that the method is reliable. A wet gauge is not out of the question but we would prefer to measure thickness once the coating is cured.
