Hi,

 Not sure what you mean by a "Conventional DMM" measurement, perhaps Digital
Multi Meter?

 A 4 wire measurement system separates the excitation connection of a DUT
(Device Under Test) from the measurement circuit. This is very common when
measuring low value resistances as the resistance you are trying to measure
is MUCH less than the resistance in your connections.
