From a metallurgists standpoint, expansion on freezing, well known trait
of Bi. Also just for a bit of added info, what is special about a BiCd
alloy?

I suspect that Doug will be asking "where's my chair" so I'll be sure to
tell him to contact Ian for an answer. Heck of a way to start back into
