A 4 wire measurement system removes the resistance of the leads.
It usually uses a constant current via two wires and then measures
voltage with the other two across the uut.
It is a common technique for low value resistance measurement, where
often the lead resistance of a DMM could swamp the reading because the
constant current source and the voltage measurement are at the 'wrong'
end of the leads..
OK?

Fellow TechNetters:
What is the difference between a 4 point measurement system and
conventional DMM measurement?
Should the readings be identical or within a tolerance?
Depending on scale settings and tolerance of instrument.
Measurement conducted on DIMM net on a populated board.
Victor,
