Rex:

It wouldn't be smart for me to talk about IT, they're probably
reading this as I write it. Besides, Dilbert has already covered
this ground pretty well.

Sure, I'd like to tell our IT guys to turn off those filters. And
while we're at it, I'd love to have lower taxes, free pizza on Fridays,
and World Peace. But Corporate Policy is harder to change than
any of those other things, alas.

We have no way of knowing how stupid your IT departments blocker is.
The web is full of the stupidities caused by these unnecessary devices.
If you read a rude word I doubt that you will be caused any harm.
If I want to send a rude word then I can defeat the detector and if they crank up the detector then the stupid instances rise.
The policy of blocking rude words is based on the 'I can so I will'
rather than, 'this is a very serious problem we must stop it at all costs'.
Get them to turn it off, who do they think they are anyway, they are supposed to help you in your work, not police you.
Rex

Gentlemen:

I hate to pile any more fuel on the bonfire of political correctness, especially today, but my e-mail server has been blocking messages with the subject line "Quality & Capability".

Because I greatly value the discussion here, and I was curious about the reason, I checked the TechNet archive on the IPC website to see what the hubbub was about. Somebody used the S word in a post, and then everyone who responded (if they quoted the original message below their post) got blocked along with the original miscreant.

I don't like having my e-mail censored. And I'm not particularly offended by the occasional use of off-color words, some of which I use myself, sometimes loud and often. But most of us work for companies that make their own rules, so for the sake of my own productivity, and maybe to avoid offending the more evolved sensibilities of some in this group, I respectfully request that we please "Watch them woids".

-Joe
