IPC-A-610 also requires a minimum end joint width, and a minimum
side joint length.

If the lead is not overhanging the side of the pad, you must
have a wetted fillet on both sides of the lead. The minimum
length of this side connection is different for Class 1 and Classes
2,3. If the lead overhangs the pad on one side, this
requirement only applies to the opposite side.

In 610D, this is on page 8-49, and in 610E, it's on page 8-55.

Subject: [TN] Acceptabe Solder Fillet on Gull wings

IPC 610 Cl 2 states that a side overhang of 50% is acceptable. Does that means, which seems obvious but not stated, that an acceptable solder fillet is required on one side only? Does the same apply to the toe, which allows for an overhang?
