He'd fit right in on this board.  LOL.

It's remarkable how many chemists I meet who say they got first 
interested as a teen because they wanted to know how to make things 
go boom.  Same for EE's that got into it as teen rockers because they 
thought they could learn enough to build their own guitar amp.
