Try using semiconductor-grade alcohol on the pins when you mate the connector...
It lubricates during the initial mating, as long as you don't wait too long...
Then over time the alcohol evaporates leaving only the residue that was on the connector pins or originally in the alcohol..

We build to class 2. Our products are generally used for network
infrastructure.
Sometimes some of our connectors require a lot of force to mate in
production, especially as pin counts go up and up, which can cause
damage if a pin is slightly bent. Someone suggested using one of those
Deox-it-Gold products. I have been looking at the datasheets and MSDS
sheets but I am not sure if this could cause issues or leave residues
that could be a problem. Do any of you have any experience with them,
or have other suggestions for better lubrication of high pin-count gold
plated connectors?
