The last paragraph is a very astute observation.
I am afraid this is part of the changes going on within the IPC—none for the better. They have gotten rid of a lot of staff with long histories and replaced them with bean counter-types. Some of it is driven by the economic times and financial losses at the main conferences over the last 2 years, but another aspect by some apparent power struggle within the IPC between the technical and the commercial communities within the IPC, with the commercial side apparently winning. 
These changes have P.O.'ed a large number of long-term contributors, including most of the still-active Hall of Famers.

PS. It seems  to me as John Crawford ( nowadays rather silent, but very active the first years) is one of the real creators of TN. Is that so, then I hope he will be the leader of the celebration group.  Why not make a nice photo application with these guys, and with a suitable word, and let Steve G do something creative for his gallery? Does not take much time to do.  TN has lost over 200 members the last years,  a presentation of our idols may perhaps renew the interest.
