Reliability as well as design is key to any safety critical system.

We look at these various reports on issues with "systems" and yet lose sight
of the "reliability" of modern electronics systems, their hardware, software
and the interactions between them, and forget that erroneous behavior is
becoming somewhat normal. A few examples:

1/ How many times has your laptop blue screened with the words "beginning
physical memory dump if this is the first time you have seen this message
contact your system administarator"?.

2/ How many times have you been running a program on your system but it has
locked up and you have had to go to task manager to kill it?

3/ How many times has your system come up with a message that the system has
recovered from a serious error?

4/ How many times has your cell phone "locked up" and you have had to remove
and replace the battery to re-set it?
