One of the issues with the key is that keyless systems are coming into
vogue.  To shut down those, you hold down the button for three
seconds--and hope the computer will respond.  Not quite as robust, in
the opinion of many.

most cars built today have drive by wire with hall effect sensors.  No
one else 
is reporting problems on Toyota's scale.  Then again, everyone else 
uses  "brake wins " software.

You already have a kill switch installed on your Toyota, from the
factory.  It's 
located on the steering column, on the right side, below the steering
wheel.  
It's multiposition, Accessory, Engine On, Engine Off, Starter  ;-)
