 Hi Blair,
Stronger solders are NOT better—they create new failure modes like pad cratering.

For purposes of discussion, I toss out my $0.02....

The article states that the addition of iron makes the solder stronger. Is
stronger better? Solder needs ductility as it has to absorb the stresses from
CTE mismatch between the PCB and components.

Heat the solder by magnetic induction, thus the remainder of the assembly is
not subjected to heat. Bu tdoesn't there need to be heat in the component
leads and the board lands for proper intermetallic bonds to form? Will there be
proper wetting without heating the components / leads? Granted, some heat
will transfer from the molten solder to the leads, similar to hand soldering,
but
will it be enough on a larger scale?

Blair
