Hello,
I have to say here that I have completely no knowledge in X-ray machine for PCBA but has been tasked to (1) evaluate and with intention to purchase a suitable X-ray machine for this application and (2) purchase personal radiation monitoring device.
My immediate task is item (2) as we will be using a contractor's X-ray to carry out X-ray for some of the PCBAs mounted with BGAs and LGAs very soon. I need to purchase this so-called dosimeter ASAP. I am given a particular brand and told to get either one of the models. As I stared down on the specifications between the different models, I am lost in their translations, what energy range, dose rate, etc, etc. I surfed the internet to understand more but came face to face with so many literature and brands that I am "drown" in them. Ignorant I may be, I am sure those specifications stated in the dosimeter data sheet has to do with the brand or type of X-ray machine that I use at the contractor's facility or that I am going to purchase.
I really hope some kind souls out there can help me to have some basic understanding in how I should select the correct dosimeter for my application. I am looking at one that can be wore around the neck (for both genders) or clip on breast pocket for male.
Thanks and Regards,
~ Wee Mei ~
