Gregg,
All lessons point in the same direction:
While bulk conductivity in 75/25 or 10/90 extract is an important process control feature, it is important for many only because it is contractually obligated.
While NAFI had good reason for using NaCl equivalency, it has haunted us since.
We at Robisan have provided traceability to mass value NaCl through conductivity readings from the Omega Meter for years. It works, but it is not trivial. And if you haven't done the uncertainty model and trace to mass value...well you get uncertainty.

IPC 5-32 groups are totally revamping the cleanliness assessment protocols. They will be published in the 570X series, and J-STD companion docs.

The 37,000 ft overview:
*Bare board qualification/periodic conformance by IC using the Delphi protocol and pass/fail criteria
*One acceptable J-STD qualification method for assembly materials and processes is by SIR/ECM using the B-52 and method 2.6.3.7
*There is harmonization with IEC
*Doug's glowing smile is on the ipc.org home page rotation right now

Gregg,

We use the Aqueous Technologies Zero Ion system. The company is in Rancho
Cucamonga. Simple to use but does not separate anions from cations just
gives NaCl equivalent of contamination.

Dear TechNet:

Looking for recommendations and lessons learned for cleanliness testing
equipment for surface resistivity testing per Appendix C of J-STD-001.
Feel free to contact me off-line. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Thanks,
