How about 94 Lead Tin Silver for the composition?

Sn05Pb93.5Ag1.5 wire solder in an activated rosin or resin with a 3.3% flux core? Alpha lists the alloy on their chart.

Maybe rev E of QQ-S-571 (1972) identifies it.

Tektronix used a silver bearing solder for their vacuum tube oscilloscopes. The terminal strips that held the components were ceramic and they had metal slots in them to lay the component wires. It was an elegant solution. Standard 60/40 solder's coeficient of expansion would crack the ceramic so inside every scope back by the power supply was a small plastic spool of silver bearing solder. Not "silver solder" like you use to join pieces of metal, but soft pliable solder that has silver in it. I think this is what you are looking for Rudy. Not "silver solder" which takes a gas torch to melt.

Graham:
This is from Wikipedia:

"Silver solder is also used in manufacturing to join metal parts that cannot be welded. The alloys used for these purposes contain a high proportion of silver (up to 40%), and may also contain cadmium."

Believe it or not, hand made steel frame racing bicycles were often silver soldered, as you don't need to heat the metal as hot, as when you
braze. And the bond is STRONG.

Hello Technet
I seem plagued with strange solder questions these days. Can somebody help with a cross-reference from an old solder callout to what this would be referred to as now? I have a drawing that references:
"QQ-S-571 alloy 94LTS Type WRAP3", and refers to it as "silver solder".

I can get the last version of QQ-S-571 (rev F, before it was cancelled and J-STD-006 adopted), but I do not see this type of callout. Does anyone have something that will tell me what's in this solder?

Thanks!
