DinoScope for $179.99 . I used this scope for a lot of close up work, solder joints, small solder balls under parts, scratches in the PCB, BGA balls etc.

Check out the specs to see if will meet your needs. It does a great job for me.

The USB Digital Microscope is a simple plug and play device that hooks up to any available USB port on your computer. Once done, all you need to do is use the included software to magnify objects under its lens and view them on your computer. The USB Digital Microscope is capable of blowing up the specimen up to 200x, taking snapshots and time-lapse movies in the process. Of course, you can further enhance those photos with drawing and painting tools. The microscope can be detached from its stand to let you get closer to subjects that won’t fit under it normally.

Those who have a penchant for science education, forensics, printing, textile, printed circuit board (PCB) inspection, jewelers, and hobbyists ought to consider getting one of these. You get 20x, 50x, and 200x magnification on a single lens, while a quartet of white light LEDs illuminate the subject even more clearly. Still images are captured in 1024 x 768 resolution. The USB Digital Microscope retails for $179.99 .

Subject: [TN] Inspection Systems

Esteemed Forum -

Do any of you have input as to a great, but cheap, visual inspection system?

I need a system that can easily inspect, from 10X to 150X, with the capability of also taking pictures.  If it has the ability to measure inspection areas, and/or the ability to measure solder paste height, that would be great - but it's not required.  I've combed the archived forums for input, but all of the recommendations I found were at least a few years old already.

And, let me repeat, it must be as cheap as cheap can be.

I found this - and it certainly fits the "cheap" requirement.  Anybody have experience with this sort of device that they wouldn't mind sharing?

I look forward to your input.
