Rich,
I don't believe that most of the UV tracers are heat sensitive, but it
depends on the chemical in question. I do know that their ability to
fluoresce degrades with time. We have field returns that come back in
where the coating does not fluoresce anymore, but we are talking loooooong
periods of time. For the coatings that we use, I know that occasionally,
an assembly may be left in a 100C oven for several hours , ahhhhh or so I
have heard that happens elsewhere.

Much of the answer to the question depends on what wavelength of light is
used for the photoinitiator for the coating and what wavelength of light
is used for fluorescing. Often two different wavelengths.

I would ask the question of Phil Kinner at Humiseal, an extremely
knowledgeable man in the area of coatings. I plan on looking at their
UV40 coating a little later this year, time and budget permitting.

Subject
[TN] Fluorescent Tracers in UV Conformal Coating

I seem to recall some details regarding UV conformal coatings, that
perhaps their fluorescent tracers are more heat sensitive and fluoresce
less than other non-UV conformal coatings.

Can anyone substantiate or provide their experience?
