Would be nice to know which end of the package we were looking at - Anode or
Cathode?

And have a few additional close-ups and profile views

The  first photo appears to show the 'rough' surface on the right - the
anode side.  The anode slug is well involved with the glass pill [the right
half of the device].  It almost appears as though there is some significant
voiding/air pocket right at the junction - the white irregular area right
where the anode and cathode slugs meet at the diode.  I would like to see a
bit more of that area too.

Then there is the question of just how many of these do you have Dave?  Are
you speaking hundreds, thousands, or just a handful?
