These coatings were washed off On wave soldering, but clearly this will not
happen on reflow. But that is not necessarily a bad thing. Rosin is a
reasonably good insulator and protective coating. Certainly in the past a
customer making professional personal comms gear used a rosin coat like
these routinely for its "ruggedized" range. They had switched to water
washing OA flux from rosin fluxes, but found their more complex HF radios
drifted off tune with the weather, a light rosin spray was a very adequate
fix..... They did not see the irony.

I would be surprised if this product is still available, especially in
it's original form. As others previously stated, it was rosin in solvent.
The problem with the original product is it required either solvent or
semi-aqueous cleaning after soldering. In today's world of no clean
fluxes, this product would not work. Perhaps they have formulated a no
clean version.

A blast from the past.
Sealbrite was a Lonco product, a solution of rosin in solvent that was
effectively a simple varnish. Air or oven dried. Worked OK.

Alpha Metals had equivalent products Alpha [2301 2302 etc] which aped it
reasonably well. What happened when everything, including Enthone and
their
products, became Cookson I don't know. Most likely these simple materials
were let go in favour of Enthone's modern OSPs.

Hello All,

Does anyone help input something about surface finish SEAL BRITE COATING?
I
got a talk with pcb fab shop today and I was told that there was SEAL
BRITE
COATING available for pcb surface treatment. I know nothing about such
surface finish and I'm quite curious. Thank you.

Best Regards
