We use Creative Automation. The positive displacement pump gives excellent
control of dot sizes, and can also be programmed to dispense beads or
patterns. We have both the 3700 benchtop and 8300 inline models which we
use for chipbonder. Their application engineers have always been very
helpful, and other pump styles are available depending on the application.
We have tips if we need to run 0402 or smaller, but currently discourage
gluing parts this small in our DFM rules to make life easier.

Whatever you pick, if you do not use it daily make sure it is easy to
clean out or purge. For the Loctite 3621 chipbonder we only allow one
month out of the fridge. If a syringe is not empty in that time it is
disposed of. Exceeding shelf life and expiry dates will affect adhesion.
Since we have replaced all but one of our wave solder machines with select
solder we often only glue a few small parts per board and were finding
that some heads were not using even 30cc's per month.

Any manufacturer will run samples for you so you can make sure they are
capable of meeting your requirements.

Subject
[TN] Dispensing system

We are looking for a state-of-the-art dispensing system capable of making
very fine features. We do not have a spec set yet but we are considering
nScypt benchtop system. Is nScrypt the best choice? Does any one know of
a
competitive or better performing dispensing system to make very fine
features? Any references for comparison or consideration will be
appreciated.

As we are a university research center, we can not limit the possible uses
of this system but would welcome if a system has greater utility in the
future. We may be using the system to dispense all kinds of materials as
long as it can.

Thanks.
Syed.
