Henry,
Back in a previous life we used them on many boards in telecommunications systems
both to secure keypads etc to phone boards & module boards to main boards.
They work just fine, yes it can get a little frayed around edges, but we have never
seen any issues in our product type related to PEMs in boards.
They work very well when installed properly with
proper hole size.
Bob

Subject: [TN] PEM (rivets) in PCB

Is anybody out there aware of any spec/inspection criteria/documentation on how to specify/design/inspect Pem type fasteners?

We have a design that may require this, but I'm not willing to commit until I have some more background info. Specifically, is this a normal process for a board shop? Are there any 'gotcha's'?

Thanks.
