Phil, I will try to provide picture. We are building a fairly large
harness that goes into a large box and in doing so we cut a window in
two 16 AWG wires and then attach a single 16 AWG wire to those two using
a solder shield termination.
I am checking to make sure we do not use anything but 63/37. I know the
manufacture of the solder sleeve uses a black color in lieu of the
standard blue for their lead free.

Thanks for your response, Jon

Jon,

In the past I have used these on smaller gauge wire with great success
and on RG79 as a means of attaching a drain wire to the shield. I have
not tried them on 16 gauge. My logic would assume that if the part was
made large enough for the 16 awg that there would be enough solder. As
I write this I wonder about the application because the solder alloy may
not be the standard 63/37 or newer lead-free because of the process
temperatures.

Having an understanding of the intended final usage environment would
help.

Phil

Good morning,

Have any of you had experiences in soldering two or more 16 AWG stranded
wire together in an harness using solder shield (heat shrinkable
Soldering Devices)?

Any advice or success in doing that in a production environment in truly
appreciated, Jon
