I would not fool around with a moose, period.

I once met a trucker who had survived an attack. He was part of a driving
team working out of the Port of Tacoma, doing long haul up the Al-Can
highway. One morning their rig was attacked by a large bull. He told me he
had been sleeping in the dog house (a bed on a shelf behind the seats but in
the cab). He woke up to the air horn and turned to see what was up, just as
the bull turned to charge their conventional cab Kenworth.  The impact cut
the legs from under him, but he was tall enough that his head, horns and
body behind slid over the engine cowl through the windshield and into the
cab, killing the moose and driver. The guy in the doghouse survived.

Apparently the moose was walking down the middle of the highway. The driver
didn't want to slow down as they were fully loaded, and approaching a long
grade. So, he honked the air horn. Moose are not easily frightened, not like
deer at all, completely different flight or fight responses. 

Some pretty bad advice on technet today, ranging from washing and perhaps
drinking IPC to messing around with moose.
