Bill,

I've spec'd out the IPC4101/26 (laminate and prepeg) for most of my eutectic based boards, generally without issue. 370hr is a good material for this, but there are many others.

But in regards to the 4 layer stack-up, I've seen the vendors come back with 10/40/10, 20/20/20, 15/30/15 and 12/35/12 which will all after plating finish up with around .62" +/-.007". It almost always depends on what they happen to have on hand that will meet the requirements. I try not to leave it chance to much and will through on intended thickness with tolerances.

Best Regards,

-Jeffrey

Subject: [DC] Standard construction for a 4 layer board...

I need to ask the designers and particularly the manufacturers a
question.

IS there a standard construction for a 4 layer FR4 board?
What thickness core and what prepreg arrangement would be used if I
asked for a IPC 4101/26 material to be used without specifying the
stackup thicknesses?

Best regards,
