You may be correct. I had a boss once who purchased a very expensive machine that collect the reflective light from a surface and the decomposed the radiation into the primary colors. We spent a year trying to find and application. Fortunately and curiously the machine broke down and we were able to scrap it.

        Sadly, the importance of this may well be determined merely by the fact that the customer has an instrument which they feel they need to justify the purchase of.

          I am curious, why is brightness important? The most significant index is hardness and there are testing techniques that have been accepted by the industry for many years.
