There was a number of postings on the subject of torque and its effects
on different PWB materials on this forum back in the 2001 timeframe, I
believe. You may wish to do a search in the archives on the subject.

You need to use the PWB material as the torque spec otherwise you run
the risk of tearing out the standoff. Recommend using nylon screws.
Have to look but I believe the spec would be 3 - 5 inlbs.

Subject: [TN] torque

Hello All,

I have been working with customer that wants to attach daughter board to
mother board using standoffs and #6 screw.

We found specifications for torque on certain type of screws, but what
is your experience on the torque required to attach PCB's before causing
damage to the BOARDS AND/OR MATERIALS?

Thanks in advance.
