Lamar,

The (possibly apocryphal) tale about the adhesive strength required when
one of these adhesive tape tests was being written is that the engineer
concerned took a roll of conventional stationery Sellotape (translation
= Scotch tape) from his desk drawer and decided that that would
suffice.

As this is a reasonably crude go/no-go test with some subjectivity to
it, it might be OK to try the same!

Regards,
Peter

Subject: [TN] Adhesion tape test

I need help finding a suitable replacement tape to perform adhesion
testing per ASTM D3359, the tape test method.

The Permacel 99 tape that was mentioned is no longer available. We have
tried a replacement tape recommended by a tape vendor, but the backing
released from the adhesive during the test (the adhesive stuck better to
the substrate than the backing).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Lamar
