MIL-STD-1285 still references MIL-STD-130... let's see if this will
paste right from MIL-STD-1285...

2.2.1 Specifications, standards, and handbooks. The following
specifications, standards, and handbooks form
a part of this document to the extent specified herein. Unless
otherwise specified, the issue of these documents
are those cited in the solicitation or contract.

      DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE STANDARDS

MIL-STD-104 - Limits for Electrical Insulation Color.
MIL-STD-129 - Military Marking for Shipment and Storage.
MIL-STD-130 - Identification Marking of U.S. Military Property.
MIL-STD-1686 - Electrostatic Discharge Control Program for Protection
of Electrical and Electronic
Parts, Assemblies and Equipment (Excluding Electrically Initiated
Explosive Devices).

So I would say the answer is "no".
Hope this helps,
Dave

Subject: Mil-Std-130 vs Mil-Std-1285 (marking specifications)

Hello Technetters,

I've been asked if Mil-Std-1285 is a direct replacement for Mil-Std-130?
I know solder, but not marking, labels, etc.

Anybody have thoughts here? Direct replacement? Compliments
Mil-Std-130?
 Replaces only part of it?
