There are finishes A through G in the Mil Spec. Finish B is the
"microcrystalline fungicide wax". Finish B is not required to pass the
knot slip resistance test - which makes some sense since the wax would
be a lubricant, which also makes it easier to lace with... Most military
customers I've dealt with do not use wax impregnated tape for component
lacing - usually finish C, synthetic rubber.

Hi Joe,

I'm sorry I can't answer your question but I have an adder to your
question.

Many years ago I was told that flat braid lacing was impregnated with
rat
poison because if a rodent got into an aircraft it could cause havoc
with
the wiring. Eating the lacing which was poisoned and the easiest to eat
would kill them. Any truth to that tale?

I to would like to know the answer to your original question.

Subject: [TN] Lacing Tape, wax impregnated or not

Good morning All.

Nylon flat braid lacing tape per Mil-T-43435 is used to securing wires,
etc. and comes either wax impregnated or not. Everyone has an opinion
on when wax impregnated should be used and when the non-wax impregnated
lacing flat tape should be used based on experience. As far as I know,
the wax impregnated tape is used to secure wires and the wax helps keep
the lacing tape in place.

I would like to hear further comment from users. thanks

Best Regards,

-Joe M.
