I have also tested different cameras on our metallurgical microscope and a 3
Megapixel camera was good enough. I have found no big difference between 3MP
and 5MP. More important is the correct optical distance of the CCD-Chip.
This depends on the chip size (e.g. 1/2") and microscope. If you are using a
eyepiece mounted camera try moving it back and forward to get best result.
If the microscope has an option for C-mount adapter (IMHO best choice), the
length of the adapter has to be correct.
