Well Kenny, what happened today makes three. I start work on Monday, so I 
decided to do all my laundry at a local laundrymat and get that done so I 
didn't need to worry about that for a while.
After I did the wash, I needed some more quarters for the dryers. So I went 
to the coin changer they had inside and pulled out my wallet for a bill to 
change into quarters. I had a five dollar bill that was folded around the 
edges, so I sat my wallet down on top of the coin changer and straightened 
the bill out so it would go into the machine. I got my quarters and walked 
over to the dryers to feed them some quarters and stupidly left my wallet 
sitting on top of the changer. As soon as I fed the dryers, I realized that 
I didn't have my wallet and went back to the change machine to get it, it 
took less than 2-minutes, and my wallet was gone. CRAP! There wasn't but 5 
or 6 of us in the laundry, but one person had just left. I'm sure she was 
the one that saw my wallet laying there, grabbed it, and took off. It had a 
little over $100 in it, but the cash wasn't as important as the rest of the 
stuff that was in it. My new Pennsylvania drivers license, my social 
security card that I don't normally carry, but I had show it to get my new 
Pennsylvania drivers license as one form of ID to prove who I am. I don't 
have any credit cards, but I did have my bank account debit card, and 
another debit card that I got from the state of Oklahoma for the few weeks 
of unemployment that I got. Also my health insurance card was there too, 
I'll be needing that because I filed for COBRA until my insurance kicks in 
at my new job. I wished she would have just taken the money and threw my 
wallet out in the parking lot when she left. I hate to pin blame on someone 
like that because I didn't actually see her do it, but I was aware of where 
everybody else was inside the laundrymat, and she was the only one who could 
have taken it. It all happened so quick. It was my own damn fault for 
leaving my wallet laying there like that. I hope the money that was in my 
wallet will be going to good use like feeding some kids or something...

So I've spent most of my evening contacting my bank and cancelling my debit 
card and requesting a new one, calling Oklahoma unemployment cancelling that 
card and requesting a new one too, calling the police and filing a report 
which the Federal Trade Commission says you should do to when you are 
exposed to the possibility of identity theft, and I've filed a fraud alert 
with the credit reporting agencies in case someone tries to use my identity. 
Tomorrow morning I'm going to have to go and get a replacement drivers 
license, they're open from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays.

I'll tell you, lately it seems that if I didn't have bad luck, I wouldn't 
have any luck at all. The part that bothers me most about what happened 
today, is that I've lost a little more faith in my fellow human being. My 
uncle used to always say to me; "Steve, don't ever trust anybody but 
yourself..." and I used to think that he was too negative, and a little 
bitter. Now I realize that he was probably right...and that's too bad.
