Worthy of a YouTube search for those not wanting to try this at home or
in the workplace cafeteria...

You want to see something spectacular? Microwave a CD on high for about
10-15 seconds. Nice light show...

Not a good idea. My 12 year old son and I were painting the house. We
came in to clean up. I put my hearing aid on the wash machine next to
the washtub while cleaning up. He came in later and also cleaned up, but
when he toweled off he accidentally knocked the hearing aid into the
washtub with the towel. He did not want me to know, so he decided to put
it into the microwave for "just like 5 seconds or so" to dry it off and
turned the $2000 hearing aid into a molten blob of plastic and metal.
Laugh all you want, and learn from this.
Luckily, the insurance covered it 100%.
I suspect the same would happen with a memory stick. Electronics and
microwave ovens definitely do not mix.

Been there. Done that. Twice. Stick took a licking but it kept on
running.

Now, would anyone dare to put a stick in a microwave?

Yep,

I have a memory stick that been through cttons and linens cycle at ~ 40
deg C about 4 times. No additional rinsing and air dried at room
temperature over ~ 36 hours.

Still works fine.
