Sorry Mike but the quiz instructions are looking for answers. Since the
"question" to the answer of "42" is a complete unknown then you will still
need to furnish a response (for those who are lost, part of this
discussion relates to the book "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"). : -
)

Also, Bev did not completely answer question #2 as he only listed an
element and not an element oxide species!

Re: [TN] NTC - Friday Elements Quiz

So "42" is not sufficiently detailed then?

If not then so far as I know there is more than 1 answer to Questions 1
and
2

Mike

#1 Bismuth

#1A infinite. It is a stable element at the end of one or more radioactive
element decay series.

#2 I will guess it is plutonium 238.

Subject: [TN] NTC - Friday Elements Quiz

Hi folks - Its Friday, its raining like crazy in Iowa, and a gloomy day so

here is a TechNet Friday elements quiz. The ground rules are simple: No
using Wikipedia (other internet resources are allowed) and the first
correct complete answer will get to have a Diet Mt. Dew from Doug!

Question #1: Which element expands upon freezing?

Question #1A: What is the half life of this element?

Question #2: The thermoelectric generators on the Voyager, Galileo and
Cassini spacecraft utilize the radioactive decay heat from a radioactive
element oxide and have logged over 250 million thermoelectric operating
hours with no failures - name the element oxide.

Good Luck!
