Electroplated Gold over Nickel is standard for card edge connector
interfaces...

ENIG is a micro flash of gold that only is intended to preserve the
solder-ability of the board to components. The Fingers need to have a
thicker gold plating to endure being mated with the card edge connector
over and over.
ENIG would probably rub right off after the first insertion.

Subject: [DC] Gold Fingers - ENIG or Hard Gold

Have a product that would be considered low insertion cycle that makes
connection to a back panel via "gold finger" edge connection.

I would prefer to specify ENIG finish for the entire PCB.

Is ENIG suitable for this application, or is Hard Gold required?

Are there any specifications which outline the requirement?

Thanks,
Dave
