Hi all:

Once upon, I known a training method to the inspectors in IQC and end
SMT line, you can choose some of "Golden" samples which contains some
defects set by you, you can prepare some papers which cover the boards
profile, then you request your inspectors to inspect all the samples one by
one and write down the answers on the test papers, they need to mark the
defect locations and the defect modes, you can review all the papers and
give scores to all inspectors based on your default answers, when you find
some of the inspectors are not qualified to do inspection, you can use MSA
to analyze and improve their inspection ability.

Thanks

Winning

主题: Re: [TN] Inspector evaluation boards

Hi, Ioan
It's called GAGE R&R. This can be done with any scrap CCA assembly, or a few
assemblies.
You can bring it up to "golden" status with a careful and very thorough
inspection, then do any touchup and rework for any defects found.
After it is cleaned, have the inspectors inspect it to verify there are no
undetected defects or anomalies (benchmark). Then introduce defects. Pick
some out of the IPC-610D pictorial examples, the ones that are important to
you for your products, and duplicate them on your golden board(s). I would
induce some "acceptable" and some "reject" conditions. It is assumed the
board starts out with all "preferred" workmanship. Be sure to include many
defect types, such as missing epoxy, PWB corner damage, slightly bent
connector pins, chipped solder mask exposing weave or copper, in addition to
the many solder defect types. Slip in a couple of unauthorized/improper
repairs, too.
You can use IPC boards such as the MTTC. These can be used as proficiency
samples for solder training, and when finished you can re-use them for the
above purpose. You can order these from IPC.

Save these boards with the induced defects. You can use them later when you
look at the results of the GR&R and decide to purchase an AOI machine
instead.

Subject: [TN] Inspector evaluation boards

Dear Technos,

We think about implementing a means of evaluating the efficiency of the
inspectors. One idea would be having them inspect a certain quantity of
boards assembled with different known defects, both in terms of placement
(polarity, position, etc.) and workmanship.

Is there anybody out there manufacturing this type of evaluation boards?

Also, what are you doing to evaluate and qualify your inspectors (QC and end
of SMT line touch-up people)?

Thanks,

Ioan Tempea, ing.
