Ioan,
I have a set of 20 boards with 5 conditions per board. Some of these conditions are defects some are acceptable, it is the inspector that has to make the decision based on the IPC-A-610D.

I calculate 5 points for each condition, possible 25 points per assembly, operator must score 80% to pass. If they fail they can do the exercise one more time, if they still fail, they do not become inspectors.

Subject: [TN] Inspector evaluation boards

Dear Technos,

We think about implementing a means of evaluating the efficiency of the inspectors. One idea would be having them inspect a certain quantity of boards assembled with different known defects, both in terms of placement (polarity, position, etc.) and workmanship.

Is there anybody out there manufacturing this type of evaluation boards?

Also, what are you doing to evaluate and qualify your inspectors (QC and end of SMT line touch-up people)?

Thanks,
