Hi Dave!

I haven't seen a low mag image popcorned part either, so I thought I'd
do one for you.

I have some scrap Altera 324-pin BGA's that have been sitting in my desk
drawer for who knows how long, so I thought I'd try and popcorn them for
you and take some pictures. I grabbed about four of them and went to our
rework machine. I sat our PDR rework station up so that the part
thermocouple was pointing out in space and poured the coals to the part.
Ramp rate of the part was W-A-A-A-Y more than 2-4 degrees per second,
and in about 15-20 seconds I heard a sharp POP! Every part popcorned
that I did this to, and they all popcorned on the bottom of the part.
You couldn't see anything on the top. The first picture is of the top of
the part, and the other two are of the bottom.

Warning kids; don't try this at home! Hehehe...

Subject: [TN] Looking for an Optical Picture of a Popcorned SMT
Component

Hi folks! I am looking for an optical picture of a SMT component that
has been "popcorned" for use in a report. I have lots of CSAM and cross
sections photos but not a low mag optical or low mag SEM image of a
popcorned SMT component? Anyone have a picture I can use?
