Hi folks! Ok pencils down and please pass your quizzes to the front. The
answers:
1) Question Number One:
Einsteinium was discovered in 1952. What sampling method was used to
discover the element? Bonus points if you can state the location the
element was discovered.
Answer: Es was discovered by aircraft sampling of the mushroom cloud of
the first H bomb in 1952. The location was Eniwetok Atoll. The Es253 was
produced by rapid neutron capture of the U238 in the bomb jacket and had a
half life of 20.5 days.
2) Question Number Two:
Sir Humphry Davy discovered what element in 1808?
Answer: Barium - and as I learned from the submitted responses, a whole
bunch more elements too.
TechNet grades: Everyone gets a B+ despite not completely answering
Question #1 (everyone gets partial credit). And Doug gets an F. I would
ship out a vial of mummy dust to everyone but its going to be nominated
for the REACH legislation's SVHC list. I'll go swipe some Diet Mt. Dew
from Doug for anyone who wants one.
Hope everyone has a fun weekend.

Re: [TN] NTC - Friday Trivia Question
Keep the hell away from my stash. I wondered why I was going through so
much of it......
For question #2, Sir Humphrey Davy discoverd a number of elements in 1808:
Barium,
Boron (with researchers Joseph-Louis Gay-Lussac and Louis-Jaques Thénard)
Calcium
Magnesium
If you go a year earlier, in 1807, he discovered Sodium and Potassium.
So, there is no single answer to your poorly worded question. You will
have to give up your mummy dust, which in reality is a bag full of Dave's
dandruff that he collects.

[TN] NTC - Friday Trivia Question
Hi gang! Ok, its Friday and Doug hasn't arrived in the office for me to
harass him yet so here is our "Friday Trivia" quiz. Note that since I am a
materials engineer, the questions are going to be material based (duh!)
and intended to drive Doug nuts. One rule - the use of Wikipedia as a
research tool is prohibited but all other internet sources are open game:
1) Question Number One:
Einsteinium was discovered in 1952. What sampling method was used to
discover the element? Bonus points if you can state the location the
element was discovered.
2) Question Number Two:
Sir Humphry Davy discovered what element in 1808?
The "winner" of the Friday trivia quiz is a choice of either a case of
Doug's Diet Mountain Dew or a case of Mummy dust.
Good luck and happy Friday!
