Ioan,

We have GPD, Hepco, and Heller, but I think Heller sold their lead forming years ago. All have served well.

Hi Ioan!

The other players out there that I know of are Hepco:

http://www.hepcoblue.com/Documents/1800-1.pdf

and Streckfuss:

http://www.streckfuss.com/lead_form.html

You'll need two machines, one for radial parts and one for axial parts, there isn't anything out there that I know of that will do both. I don't think that Hepco makes anything that does lock-in forms for axial parts. The only comment I have about Streckfuss machines is that sometimes your average operator has a hard time setting things up properly. Not that it's overly difficult, but the set-up is not fool-proof. They do need to understand the machine.

As far as being reliable, they all are. We have both Hepco and GPD machines here. The Hepco machines are fairly new, but they're DIP forming and cutting machines though. Our radial and axial machines are all GPD and they must be at least 10-15 years old and they still are working fine. The only problem we've run across is that sometimes the cutters become magnetized and with certain parts that presents a problem. The machine will jam up. It doesn't happen that often, but when it does we have to cut and form the parts by hand.

Dear Technos,

I need your input on lock-in forming, you know - making those kinks that lock the radial or axial components in the holes when manually inserted, to keep them from being pushed up in the wave.

Is this type of forming reliable? Other than GPD, what other players are in the game and what your experiences are?

Off-line answers are welcome, should you consider the details too "intimate" to show on Technet.

Thanks,
